The Art of Pillow Fluffing for Maximum Comfort

Who knew that recovering at home would turn into a crash course in Advanced Pillow Engineering? I mean, at this point, if there were a degree for “Pillow Placement and Fluffing Science,” I’d be halfway to my master’s. I’m trying to train Wes to become my dedicated, on-call, highly-trained pillow technician, but he seems to lack appreciation or interest in the job. Sometimes it’s just hard to figure out what goes on inside other heads. But I digress…
I start with what I call “The Core Four”: four pillows, each with a unique purpose. One is for neck support, two for back support, and one that exists purely on-call and will inevitably be tossed off the bed at 3 a.m.
But here’s where it gets complicated: the fluff factor. Too fluffy, and I’m sitting bolt upright like a parrot on a perch. Too flat, and I’m sinking like a marshmallow in hot cocoa. It’s a delicate balance, one that apparently requires 17 adjustments per hour, depending on my ever-shifting “comfort equilibrium.”
Then there’s the rotation schedule. Oh, yes. I have a system now. Being the devoted pillow-fluffer I am, rotate each pillow through an elaborate series of flips, smushes, and karate-chop fluffing maneuvers. And yes, there is an actual technique! Who knew there were so many ways to fluff a pillow? I’m like a chef performing with a very soft, silent orchestra.
And let’s not forget the elusive perfect alignment, which involves coordinating pillows in such a way that they cradle every achy part while also leaving enough room for basic survival movements, like breathing.
So, I encourage you to develop your pillow-fluffing prowess. You could be one fluff away from making it into the Pillow Hall of Fame (which I imagine involves a lot of cool pillows).
